Scanlite Facial Rejuvenation

What is Scanlite Laser?

ScanLite facial rejuvenation laser treatmentScanlite laser is a new laser procedure that improves the overall appearance of the skin. Scanlite Laser can reduce sun-induced damage, even out pigmentation remove vascular and pigmented lesions, decrease redness from rosacea and give skin a more youthful appearance.

The Scanlite is a computer pattern generator with integrated controls designed to enhance the capabilities of our existing Varilite laser system. This scanner is ideal for rapid and full face treatments to improve the appearance of blemishes, producing a more uniform skin texture and tone, for the treatment of large area lesions such as poikiloderma, matted telangiectasia and rosacea.

What areas can be treated with Scanlite Laser?

Laser facial treatments can be performed on the face neck and hands. Targeted laser energy is applied to the treatment area where it is absorbed in the form of heat by abnormal vessels, lesions or damaged cells The columns are fractionated with therefore allows us to treat up to 1.5mm and not cause disruption to the skins integrity. The energy stimulates the natural collagen and the body begins its natural healing process. Healthy collagen softens the appearance of aging skin and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What is a Scanlite Laser treatment like?

The Scanlite allows rapid delivery of microspot exposures with controlled spacing over large treatment areas. The focal treatment spots are spaced precisely to leave untreated zones between the exposures. These zones act as thermal dissipation (heat loss) during treatment which then allows use of higher energy settings and better results. These then become healing centers for maximum safety and fast recovery. The 532 wavelength is selectively absorbed by oxyhemoglobin in the dermis and by melanin at the dermal/ epidermal junction. This results in selective injury to the tissue columns that can reach to the depth of 1.5mm.

Dr. Mest offers the Scanlite Laser Facial, which will include tracing visible vessels with the Varilite pen at the 532 and 940 wavelengths and then scanning the entire face with the 532 ScanLite. For optimum results, it is is best to have three treatments. The results are dramatic with a decrease in redness and sun damage (brown spots), with a significant improvement in texture noticeable after the third treatment.

The procedure takes about 30 minutes. Three treatments are required and we suggest they be about 30 days apart. It is nice to be able to finally offer a treatment for that diffuse facial redness and blotchiness!
